Glistening at the foot of the Dolomites, Lake Garda is the most popular of all the Italian Lakes. The surrounding mountains are ideal for walking and mountain biking. Watersports, sailing and windsurfing centres are in abundance. Here’s a sample for you:
Sirmione
Held by many to be the jewel in the crown of Lake Garda, its stunning location entails you having to enter the town by via a bridge through the castle walls. Very quaint and charming, and unlike anywhere else you are likely to see, shops and restaurants dot the narrow streets.
Macesine
Pretty and atmospheric but packed with tourists. Take the cable car up to Monte Baldo and enjoy an energetic walk and then quench youir thirst with a drink or an ice cream.
Verona
The setting for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Verona is a vibrant yet ancient city boasting many Roman remains. Once a fishing village, Verona has bags of old world charm.
Riva del Garda
A pleasant base where you can stroll along winding streets and relax in waterfront squares. One of Riva’s most striking buildings is the Torre Apponale, a tall thirteenth centuryclock tower. Ascending the narrow steps is a good way to work off those ice creams!
Accommodation
Numerous camping companies offer modern mobile homes to suit most families. There are bungalows and chalets too, all well equipped to ensure you get everything you need to enjoy your holiday!
